Coloured see see’s

Shuangliu, China, Feb 27, 2010

Ok, so who knows what this means? “If you don’t do what I say, I will give you a coloured see see.”

My best guess is that a coloured see see is Chinglish for ‘two black eyes’. My new gym instructor told me today that I should say it to the kids at school. I said I had no idea what it means, he said not to worry, because the kids would know.

This country is one huge contradiction. One minute it is as frustrating as all heck (I won’t go into detail, just in case you have already read my blog) and the next I find everything I need done, takes nothing more than me saying I need something done, and there is someone here doing it. One minute this country is making me cry, and the next, someone says something that has me laughing my head off. One minute I am working with state of the art technology, and the next I am walking down the street next to a lady carrying a rooster in a sack thinking if I took one step in the wrong direction I would end up in the dark ages. Where does that happen in a big city? This place is crazy! Crazy good and crazy bad.

Today has been a great day. The honking horns outside my window at about 6 this morning let me know it was foggy outside, and since I couldn’t get back to sleep I thought I would come and catch up on some emails, and get started on some Portuguese. However, a friend I haven’t spoken to in a while came online and we had a nice chat. Then I spent some time doing some stuff before having lunch and then heading to the gym.

I like my new trainer. He’s a good trainer and we get along well. Not quite as well and Mr Li and I got along though. I still miss Mr Li, but I can see that Jacky is going to be great for me. He told me today that next session he is going to make me sweat. Oh, so what was I doing today? He looked at me when I was on the elliptical trainer (I think that’s what it’s called) and told me I was not sweating enough, my clothes were  not dripping wet. I screwed up my nose and said, you will never catch me looking like that, I’m too much of a laaaaady to let that happen and my body knows it. hehehe (anyone who has watched ‘Little Britain’ might get my humour in the way I wrote ‘lady’) He said most of his clients, after doing the session I did would be wearing clothes that were wringing wet. I said, well, not me. ewww

My Portuguese course is sitting open on my computer but I have not learnt anything new today. I have been refreshing all the lists I learnt on Tuesday though, I signed back into my course thinking I would knock off a couple of new lists tonight, but when I saw so many items to refresh – I think about 74 from memory, I had a change of plans. Tomorrow there will only be more, so… The good thing is, I have remembered most of what I learnt, there are just a couple of things I get stuck on. She’ll be right.

Well, I’d better get back.

Till next time…

Whoops, nearly forgot again…

Today I am gratefrul… ummm, that should read ‘grateful’
1. That I can still get a laugh out of this country. A coloured see see. It cracks me up.
2. The Portuguese I am learning seems to be sinking in.
3. For my beautiful friend I had a chat with this morning. I have missed you.

The coast around Albany

The coast around Albany

Albany, Australia, Feb 13, 2010

The South Western Australian coast, around Albany is my favorite destination for a long weekend away from Perth.

You will find there a spectacular coast line, beautiful wineries in the hills, and even some “moutains” a bit further inland, with the Stirling Range near Mt Barker.  It is also great to find a cooler climate during the hot summer.

Western Australia has so much to offer. It is just huge…

Cape Le Grand National Park is the most spectacular place I have seen so far in the Province. Some other sites that I want to see are the Kimberleys and the coast along Monkey Mia. But one needs more than a long weekend to visit these places.

Below are a few photos taken along the way to Frenchman’s Bay.

Quality Inn Point Pleasant

Point Pleasant, New Jersey, Feb 27, 2010

My family and I stayed at the Quality inn, Point Pleasant this weekend and had a wonderful time! The rooms were clean and nicely sized, everything in the room appeared to be new, the beds were comfortable and the staff was courteous and helpful. It offers a complimentary computer to use, complimentary breakfast was pretty good, free wifi, they had nice pool and will open in summer. I would definitely stay at this location again! I wish I could find a hotel like this everywhere I stay.
