This year, I think that I have found the perfect gift for my parents. Every year I struggle trying to decided what to get them. I usually like to do joint gifts, rather than individual gifts, but sometimes I think that I bomb as a gift giver. Last year, I gave them a couples massage, which they never used. I should have known that my dad wouldn’t go to a massage therapist. The year before that, I gave them an ipod and to this day it is still in the package because they never figured out how to use it. I live two thousand miles away, so I couldn’t show them how to work it and we ran out of time during the holidays for me to do so. This year, I don’t think that the joint gift that my husband and I are going to give my parents is going to disappoint. I am waiting to get direct tv cyber week and upgrade their television. They have a flat screen television, but do not have the HD service or the premium movie channels. I really think that my parent’s just don’t know how much they are missing. This will also be one gift that they can’t return of not use.

I have no idea where I will be going but we are taking a holiday vacation with the kids this year. I was hoping to make a trip to Jamaica but honestly I don;t think we can afford the flights over to the Caribbean even at the discounted rates being offered right now.

I think the most we can hope for this Christmas vacation would be some snow as we drive north for the holiday. I think the kids would enjoy a great northern road trip with some snow to see but we’ll have to see how that works out. Right now I am kinda stuck putting some plans in place with limited finances but we are certainty working on a plan to have us traveling for Christmas vacation with the kids.

Any suggestions for a nice Christmas vacation this year? I understand Pigeon Forge Tn is nice that time of year. Any comments on a Smoky Mountain vacation for the holidays?

I can’t believe that my wife and I have been married ten years this month. For the last six months I have been searching all over the Internet trying to find a great place for us to take a much-needed vacation. The most difficult thing about planning this vacation is trying to keep it from my wife. I want this entire thing to be a surprise and she is an extremely difficult person to keep things from. The hard part about all of this is that I have to use my office computer and I have been covered up with work over the last several months and it’s extremely hard to find the time to sit down and have a significant amount of time to accomplish anything worthwhile. However, last week I saw a great deal on an Alaskan cruise that I know she will love. What makes things even better is my mother-in-law sent me this great link home security system benefits because she knows that my wife will constantly worry about leaving the house for this trip. Now I just have to figure out how I want to tell my wife about this trip.

I use a comparison shopper for most of my atv accessories and I have found some incredible deals by checking back often at CanadaPost.ca and picking some great gear for my Honda ATV. My last order was a QuadGear Extreme Armor-X ATV Rear Rack hard sided case for my sons 4 wheeler so he can better manage some things he likes to carry with him and be able to be an independent rider as well. He can take off a bit further on his own now and he’s very proud of his new found freedom.

He’s been doing a lot more deep exploring here in the local forests and knowing he rides with top atv accessories gear is all that I worry about. I know I can trust the high grade atv parts and equipment I bought online at Canada Post because it’s some of the best on the market at the lowest prices you’ll find online.

One of the hottest competition shows on television in the past few years has been “The Bachelor.” This show is truly one of the most popular on television these days. On my satellite tv from DirectStartTV.com, I love watching past and new episodes of “The Bachelor.”

This show features a group of beautiful women competing to win over the love of one man. Ah, how this is the reality of life in the real world. Perhaps this show is so popular because it hits home to the competitive nature of relationships and what people are willing to do to win love into their lives. Whatever the case, this show offers an insightful look into how single men choose their potential mate for marriage. I love seeing the reasons a bachelor will choose a single girl on this show. Sometimes, the bachelor is attracted to the looks of a girl, while other times her intelligence wins him over. He always seems to find one girl out of the bunch that just stands out. And, I think that is how true love really works. When a person is truly in love with another, that person just seems to stand out no matter what his or her traits may be. Love can be truly blind and present itself in all sorts of situations. This show simply reinforces this old age belief!

Another Jamaican has brought home gold, this time from Georgia (USA). Alia Wedderburn won the Student Competition at the international Bronner Brothers Hair Show and Convention at the Georgia World Congress Centre August 20. Wedderburn is one of two WorldSkills Jamaica competitors vying for the opportunity to represent their country in the WorldSkills International competition in ladies and men’s hairdressing.
Wedderburn beat six competitors and was the only non-American participant. Competitors were required to prepare an Elegant Evening Wear style. Eight judges picked Wedderburn’s two-color, upsweep “do” that was molded with swirls at the centre and back of the head and accessorized with silver ornaments. The hair was complimented with make-up and dress in keeping with elegant eveningwear.
She won an impressive trophy, a gold medallion, cash, and US$400 worth of Bronner Brothers products.

At an official ceremony held at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Portia Simpson Miller was honoured for her outstanding dedication to promoting women’s activities in Jamaican sport – both as athletes and as administrators. As well as the World Trophy, five continental trophies were presented, to Fridah Bilha Shiroya (Kenya / Africa), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (USA / Americas), Naila Shatara-Kharroub (Palestine / Asia), Ilse Bechthold (Germany / Europe) and Veitu Apana Diro (Papua New Guinea / Oceania). It has since been in effect for 22 years. This year (and in the previous years) it was held at Carib New York in New Rochelle, NY, USA. There were 13 contestants in the Pageant, from which 5 contestants were chosen to be in the Grand Finale. From these five contestants, the reigning queen Chaka Laguerre was chosen, as well as a runner-up and 3 other contestants placed accordingly.
Chaka Laguerre acquired the title of Miss Jamaica US at 20 years of age. She currently attends Amherst College in Amherst, MA– the top Liberal Arts College in the country.
